How can community design make everyday movement and recreation safer? This webinar will explore how transportation systems, streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public spaces can be designed to reduce injury risk and make it easier for people to walk, bike, travel, and participate in community life safely.
Presenters will highlight strategies related to pedestrian and bicycle safety, Vision Zero, Safe Routes to School, universal and age-friendly design, and safer public spaces. The discussion will also consider features such as lighting, maintained sidewalks, accessible pathways, curb cuts, benches, and safer crossings. Participants will learn how community engagement, cross-sector partnerships, and data-informed planning can help identify hazards and create environments that better serve children, older adults, people with disabilities, and other community members.
